REAL DIAPER ASSOCIATION NEWS: Volume 9, 15 April 2005
"Ask Me About Cloth Diapers" - RDA Earth Day 2005 Campaign.
The Real Diaper Association celebrates the 35th Anniversary
of Earth Day with the start-up of our "Ask Me About Cloth Diapers" campaign.
In
conjunction with Earth Day Network's
"Protect Our
Children and Our Future" theme, this campaign will equip YOU, the EXPERT, with the resources,
tips, and tools to educate your local community towards the use of cloth
diapers on Earth Day, April 22nd, and beyond.
Download your full
resource kit now, or pick and choose from the various advocacy tools
available on our site as needed. Please contact us if you
need Press Quality graphics for a newsletter, local community paper or any other
print media.
GET INVOLVED in the "Ask Me about Cloth Diapers" RDA Campaign.
The Real Diaper Association knows that YOU are the EXPERT. You cloth
diaper your own child or have cloth diapered children in years past. The
"Ask Me about Cloth Diapers" campaign encourages you to be vocal in your
local community.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
- Start with sharing your own personal reasons for cloth diapering.
- Share diaper facts. If you do not know diaper facts, download our
advocacy cards or read through our
diaper facts page to gather the knowledge.
- Tell people, "ASK ME about cloth diapers." Wear an RDA
"ASK ME" button, create your own "ASK ME" poster, banner or display using
graphics supplied by RDA.
- If you are a business owner, you may want to buy a few
"ASK
ME" buttons to distribute to your customers. Attach them to
button
cards to let the customers know what to do with their buttons. Be
sure to check out the "Ask Me..." banners to run at
your site in support of the Earth Day 2005 events.
- Plan or attend an Earth Day 2005 event. Ask yourself
who will be your specific audience? What do they need to know about
cloth diapers? How is that best conveyed at this kind of event?
- For any event where you will meet people face to face, take
samples of new diapers for people to see and touch. Make available
pamphlets,
postcards, or make flyers for them to take home.
Advocacy Button Cards Our 4x6 Button Cards have been created
specifically for the "Ask Me About Cloth Diapers" pins available
here.
They print two to a page and will be more functional if printed out on
cardstock. Button Cards, with "Ask Me About Cloth Diapers" buttons
affixed, can be passed out at Earth Day Events, placed in the customer
packages of cloth diapering businesses, as well as sold or given away at
your local Real Diaper Circle meetings. Go here to
download the "Ask Me About Cloth Diapers" Button Card.

diapering campaign. Go here to download.
Earth Day 2005 Events Send
us your Earth Day 2005 Events and we will post them for
all our site visitors. Read below about the new Atlanta RDA Circle
meeting for Earth Day 2005 below.
- Peachtree City, GA - We will be holding a cloth diapers
consignment sale April 15-16 in Peachtree City to raise funds for our new
Atlanta RDA circle. The sale will be part of our “Ask Me About Cloth
Diapers” booth at the Georgia La Leche League conference, being held
at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center off Highway 54 in Peachtree
City. Consignors may bring their cloth diapering items by our booth
Friday night by 5:30 p.m., and retrieve their unsold items Saturday
evening by 6:00 p.m. Any diapers not sold or retrieved will be donated to
charity. Consignors must carefully pin a label to their diaper in such a
way as not to affect the diaper’s performance, but still be easily seen
by shoppers looking through the bins. Information required on the label
for payment are: Consignor’s name, diaper name, style, and size, any
flaws or comments, and price. There will be a sign-up sheet at the booth
for consignors to provide us with their name and address, for payment
after the sale. Consignors will receive a check in the mail for 75
percent of their sales. Twenty-five percent will go toward the RDA circle
fundraiser. For any questions, please contact Savannah Rogers at
770-632-5530 or at msrog@yahoo.com.
Please note: Real Diaper Association can now accept personal and
business checks for donations or annual dues payments. Please send
checks to the following Real Diaper Association post office box.
