LOCAL ADVOCATES
When a potential local cloth diapering advocate would like support for their
work, RDA can help them determine what support and training they want and
need. When they complete their training, advocates will have the
option of affiliating with RDA. A local advocate does not represent
RDA.
Guidelines
- Anyone, whether an RDA member or not, is encouraged to act locally to
advocate cloth diapers.
- An affiliated Advocate must be a current RDA member.
- An affiliated Advocate must live within the U.S. For those outside
the U.S., we strongly encourage you to work locally and start similar local
organizations.
- Advocates may ask for training and guidance from an RDA organizer.
The advocate will tell the RDA organizer what training she requires, and
they will correspond until the advocate is satisfied with her preparation.
- Some advocates may decide to continue their training to become Real
Diaper Circle Leaders.
- A local advocate whose training is complete may choose to affiliate with
RDA.
- The annual fee for affiliation with RDA as a local Advocate is $50.
- Real Diaper Association reserves the right to refuse affiliation to any
particular Leader, Advocate or Circle. If an accreditation or
affiliation is declined, the person or group will be given a reason.
Benefits
- Listing in Real Diaper Association Directory for all affiliated
Advocates whose RDA memberships and affiliation fees are current.
- Contact and support from RDA organizers and members.
- Possible publicity for their work through RDA publications.
- All of the RDA benefits below.
How this might work in action.
- Someone who wants to personally focus on a particular local issue may
not want to train as a Leader of a Circle. If that person does want
others to contact and work with them on the issue, they might choose to
affiliate with RDA for support and to reach others through the RDA
directory.
- One does not need to affiliate with RDA to work as an advocate for cloth
diapering. We encourage everyone interested to simply start where they
are. If it will help to affiliate with RDA, please do.
- An affiliated Advocate might want to keep in touch with RDA organizers
and other Leaders to talk about successes and challenges, to ensure that all
publicity information is up to date, and to seek support when needed.
